A 3-body side-load morgue cooler stores three bodies with access through double doors on the long side; this American Mortuary Coolers model starts at $9,053.51 with self-contained refrigeration and an 87-inch clear loading opening.

This layout is intended for tray loading along the long side of the cabinet, not cot-direct roll-in access. Confirm the working aisle, rack fit and electrical schedule below, or compare side-loading morgue cooler configurations.

3-Body Side-Load Morgue Cooler from American Mortuary Coolers. A 3-body side-load upright morgue cooler for rural morgues, hospitals and small medical examiner offices. Double side doors open the full width so trays slide in from the long side.

What is a morgue refrigerator?

A morgue refrigerator, or morgue cooler, holds bodies at about 34 to 40 F to slow decomposition before autopsy, identification or release. Types include upright and multi-body coolers, vault coolers with an individual door per body, roll-in coolers and walk-in coolers with racks.

Key features

  • 3 standard bodies
  • Double side-loading doors, about 87 inch clear opening
  • About 40 x 95 x 70 inch exterior
  • Self-contained refrigeration

Standard design features

  • Self-contained condensing unit. The compressor, condenser and evaporator come as one factory-packaged unit mounted on the cabinet, so no refrigeration lines are run on site.
  • Digital thermometer and temperature controller. A digital display shows the box temperature at a glance, and the controller holds the setpoint you choose for body holding.

Door hardware and refrigeration

  • Magnetic gasketed door seal. The insulated door closes against a magnetic gasket that seals the whole door edge, which keeps cold air in and holds 34–40°F after the door is opened. Clean and inspect the gasket weekly with mild soap and water.
  • Energy-compliant refrigeration. The self-contained drop-in refrigeration system uses A2L refrigerant and meets current DOE/EPA efficiency rules. Standard units are sized for a conditioned room, and upgrade levels are available for warmer rooms.

Plan this AMC cooler with its loading equipment

Compare the actual door arrangement, loading direction and tray access shown for this model. For upright storage, check every transfer height against the selected lift travel. For individual compartments, allow space for the open door and the tray or rail extension. Body count alone does not establish fit or transfer compatibility.

  • Provide the required body positions, preferred loading direction and selected tray width.
  • Confirm the overall footprint, refrigeration service access, electrical supply and delivery route against this model's approved drawing.
  • Identify which trays, racks, carrier, lift or body boards are required. Only the items listed in the accepted quote are included.
  • Describe customization requests for review; new construction or load-capacity claims require documented specifications.

AMC base configuration: $9,076.25. Affordable current/reference price: $9,099.00, checked October 27, 2026. The AMC base is 0.25% below that reference, rounded to cents. This is a competitor reference, not AMC's former selling price. The benchmark uses a 3-body side-load upright with slide-out shelving; it does not establish identical dimensions, electrical service or supplied accessories. Confirm the actual inclusions in your quote.
