Build the grossing workflow around the laboratory.
Compare downdraft and wall-mounted grossing station formats, then qualify ventilation, utilities and the installed scope.

Choose a workstation format for the room
USPE grossing stations support pathology specimen handling within a specified laboratory workflow. The downdraft and wall-mounted formats address different room layouts. The correct choice depends on work practices, the available space, the intended sink and work-surface configuration and the building services.
Do not treat the product name as a ventilation design. Review the individual station specification, the exhaust connection, required building airflow, utility locations and the installation scope with the facility team. Performance depends on the approved configuration and installed ventilation system.
| Downdraft format | Coordinate work-surface layout and the documented exhaust requirements. |
|---|---|
| Wall-mounted format | Verify wall support, mounting, reach and room clearances. |
| Water and drainage | Qualify connections and local requirements before ordering. |
| Electrical and ventilation | Confirm the building services and installed scope. |
Specify the entire work position
Record the specimen workflow, operator position, room access, work-surface width, sink location and instrument requirements. Add the building exhaust information and any required room-specific approvals. A station quotation should identify exactly which fixtures, accessories and installation tasks are included.
USPE pathology equipment and AME preparation-room equipment are separate product lines. A flushing embalming station is not a grossing station merely because both include water fixtures. Start with the intended process rather than selecting by appearance.
Custom layouts and qualified procurement
Custom dimensions and layouts are available by quotation. Send the room plan and required services to obtain a defined configuration. Do not assume a custom option is included in a standard item price or that every published photo shows the quoted configuration.
For a complete laboratory, coordinate the workstation with casework, autopsy or dissection equipment, storage and the transport route. Leave adequate space for operators, carts, maintenance access and service connections.
Selected equipment
Before you order
Confirm the exact configuration, load rating, final dimensions and installation requirements on the individual product page and approved drawing. Shipping charges are shown at checkout. Custom work and installation are included only when explicitly stated in the accepted scope.
Is building exhaust included?
Do not assume it is included. Review the station’s exact scope and coordinate the building ventilation design and installation with qualified personnel.
Can an embalming sink replace a grossing workstation?
No such equivalence is implied. Select equipment for the intended pathology or preparation-room process and the documented specification.
Continue the equipment plan
Specify the equipment, then confirm the fit.
Send your room layout, intended load, required tray size and transfer heights. Request a qualified equipment quote or return to racks and lifts.
Grossing stations for the pathology workflow
Start with the procedure, room and handling route, then compare the selected equipment against those requirements. U.S. Pathology Equipment brings related tables, stations and handling equipment into one selection path without treating every model as interchangeable.
Match the station to the procedure and room
Compare the selected model's working dimensions, height arrangement, access and listed fittings. Identify whether the project needs a table alone, a sink station, a grossing station or an integrated room package; a table name does not establish its ventilation performance or utility connections.
Compare autopsy tables, elevating and hydraulic autopsy tables, anatomy and dissection tables, autopsy and dissection sinks and grossing stations by the work each configuration is intended to support.
Turn the equipment list into a reviewable quote
- Identify the selected models, quantities, optional fittings and the procedure or teaching workflow.
- Provide available room dimensions, door clearances, transfer heights and delivery access.
- Have the responsible facility professionals review electrical service, water, drainage and ventilation requirements against the selected model's documentation.
- Separate current requirements from later budget phases, with quantities and intended purchasing periods for each location.
- Confirm quote validity, freight and availability before authorization. Planning figures do not lock future prices or establish a delivery commitment.
Open a USPE quote-only product to use its dedicated specification request. For a mixed equipment package, request an itemized pathology or anatomy-lab quote with the selected items; a quote request is not a checkout order or an instant engineering approval.
Use the ventilation planning checklist and drainage and wastewater checklist to organize questions for your facility team. These resources support planning, not a certification that a room or installation meets every applicable requirement.
What should be included in an equipment quote request?
List the selected models, quantities, accessories and delivery location. For a room project, add the available dimensions and known utility constraints so the equipment and facility requirements can be reviewed together.
Does the table name confirm its utilities or ventilation?
No. Review the selected model's documented fittings and utility requirements. Have the responsible facility professionals confirm the room connections and any ventilation system required for the intended procedure.
Can a replacement project be quoted in phases?
Identify the first purchase and later quantities by location and intended purchasing period. Request separate line items for review, and reconfirm price, availability and delivery requirements before authorizing each phase.
