The 2 body bariatric roll-in mortuary cooler lets a cot roll straight in at cot height through a 36-inch clear door, with self-contained NSF/UL certified refrigeration from American Mortuary Coolers, starting at $8,117.01.
The AMC Model 2BXR is a USA-made, 2-body bariatric roll-in mortuary cooler with a 36-inch clear opening and self-contained 115V refrigeration, starting at $8,117.01.
The wider entrance is intended for facilities handling oversized cases, but cot width still needs to be checked against the opening. An upper storage shelf is included, and this model ships as an unassembled panel kit; compare roll-in mortuary coolers by capacity and access before choosing.
U.S.-brand refrigeration, U.S. warranty
When you compare body coolers, check who makes the refrigeration and who stands behind it. Some imported coolers ship with off-brand compressors that are hard to get parts or warranty service for. This cooler runs on a Heatcraft Climate Control PRO³ packaged refrigeration system from Heatcraft Refrigeration Products, a U.S. commercial refrigeration manufacturer headquartered in Stone Mountain, Georgia, with a U.S. manufacturer warranty.
Refrigeration: Heatcraft Climate Control PRO³ top-mount packaged system (PT0032MANAPNA), fully assembled, charged, run-tested and wired at the factory
Capacity: 2,900 BTU/h at 95°F ambient, 35°F box
Electrical: 115V / 1-phase / 60 Hz, 4.6 running amps, NEMA 5-20R cord and plug, no hard-wiring
Refrigerant: A2L, meets current DOE/EPA efficiency rules
Refrigeration warranty: Heatcraft manufacturer warranty, 2 years from installation or 30 months from shipment

Standard design features
Self-contained condensing unit. The compressor, condenser and evaporator come as one factory-packaged unit mounted on the cabinet, so no refrigeration lines are run on site.
Digital thermometer and temperature controller. A digital display shows the box temperature at a glance, and the controller holds the setpoint you choose for body holding.
Door hardware and refrigeration
Chrome-plated lockable door handle. A standard handle is included. Add the chrome-plated lockable handle to keep the cooler closed to everyone except authorized staff.
Magnetic gasketed door seal. The insulated door closes against a magnetic gasket that seals the whole door edge, which keeps cold air in and holds 34–40°F after the door is opened. Clean and inspect the gasket weekly with mild soap and water.
Energy-compliant refrigeration. The self-contained drop-in refrigeration system uses A2L refrigerant and meets current DOE/EPA efficiency rules. Standard units are sized for a conditioned room, and upgrade levels are available for warmer rooms.

Ambient Room Temperature & Refrigeration Sizing, Read Before You Order
The temperature of the room around your cooler matters as much as the cooler itself. Every refrigeration system rejects heat into that room. The hotter the room, the longer the compressor runs, and the harder it is to hold a steady 34–40°F . Standard refrigeration is sized for a conditioned, ventilated indoor room . If your space runs warm, upsize the refrigeration when you order.
Why ambient temperature is critical
Holding temperature: an undersized system in a hot room cannot recover after each door opening, so box temperature drifts above 40°F.
Compressor life: long, continuous run times in high heat wear out the compressor and fans early.
Condensation & humidity: warm, humid rooms produce more condensate. Connect the drain line, and route it to the external drain or a condensate pump.
How to choose
Account for heat from nearby equipment, sun-facing walls, bay doors and how often the cooler is opened.
Keep the required clearances: 1″–1.5″ around the cabinet and 16″ above and around the compressor. A blocked compressor behaves like a hot room.
Install indoors only. Unconditioned garages, mechanical rooms and rooms next to crematory retorts need a review before ordering, call 1-888-792-9315.
If the room runs warmer than 75°F, choose a Refrigeration Upsize option above.
Sizing, door handing & cot compatibility
The 2-Body Bariatric Roll-In has the same 89″ depth and 61″ cabinet height as the standard 2BR, widened to 44″ with a 36″ clear door so a bariatric cot or dressing table rolls straight in. For standard-width cots, see the 2-Body Standard Roll-In (2BR).
Door handing: match right-hand or left-hand swing to prep-room flow so the cot operator has unobstructed roll-in from the staging side.
Frequently asked questions
What temperature does this mortuary cooler hold, and when is a freezer needed?
It holds a steady 34–40°F for short-term body holding. Facilities that hold remains longer, or hold unidentified cases, add a mortuary freezer. Compare both in mortuary cooler vs. morgue freezer.
How many bodies does it hold, and how does it load?
It holds 2 standard-sized bodies. Loading method: roll-in at cot height. The cabinet is 89"D × 44"W × 61"H (76.25"H with the refrigeration unit), with a door opening of 36"W clear, side to side.
What room conditions does it need?
Standard refrigeration is sized for a climate-controlled, ventilated indoor room at 65–75°F with normal door use. If the room runs warmer or sees heavy door traffic, choose a Refrigeration Upsize option.
Does it need a floor drain?
Warm, humid rooms produce more condensate. Connect the drain line, and route it to an external drain or a condensate pump.
Upright, roll-in or walk-in: which fits my facility?
Yes. Send your room dimensions and body capacity through the custom walk-in quote request, and we will return a written quote.
How is shipping charged?
The cooler ships by freight, and shipping is calculated at checkout for your delivery address. Purchase orders are accepted.
Return Policy: All coolers, racks, lifts, and other products are non-returnable, no exceptions. All refrigeration products purchased on or after 1/1/2026 are 100% non-returnable under any circumstances. Please review our full Return Policy before purchasing.
