  • First call: a hydraulic or powered cot raises to bed height, the decedent slides across on a board or sheet, and the cot lowers itself for the trip out. Nobody dead-lifts off a floor.
  • Into the building: the cot rolls to a roll-in cooler or to a scissor lift set at cot height. The transfer is a horizontal slide, not a lift.
  • Into the cooler: either the entire cot or rack tray rolls in on floor-level racking, or a lift raises the tray to the correct shelf and the tray slides onto the rack rollers.
  • Later handling: prep table, casket placement, and release all happen the same way — match heights, slide, never carry.

Every place where a body changes surfaces is a lift point. The goal is to engineer each one down to a push or a slide. When the chain is complete, a single operator can move a 250 lb case from van to third-tier cooler shelf without lifting more than the effort it takes to roll a loaded cart.

Matching heights: the detail that makes or breaks it

Most "we bought a lift and still hurt our backs" stories come down to a height mismatch. If your cot tops out at 34 inches and your cooler's bottom rack sits at 18, someone is still lowering 200 lb by hand.
