Cooler Racks & Body Trays

Cooler racks and body trays for mortuary and morgue coolers: end-load, side-load, multi-directional and cantilever racks with stainless trays and HDPE boards.

Cooler Racks & Body Trays

The racks and trays inside a cooler decide how many bodies it holds and how safely staff can move them. A rack gives each decedent a tier on gravity-free rollers. The tray or board carries the body onto and off that tier. Choose them together, and match both to the lift that serves the room.

Mortuary cooler racks

Our standard rack footprint is 31" wide by 85" long outside, 28" by 82" inside, with the first tier at 21" and tiers spaced 16.25" apart. Frames are welded 10-gauge steel on 5" locking casters, with 1.9" rollers on every tier. Two-tier racks carry 850 lb per tier; the 5TMD-SST carries 1,000 lb per tier.

Side-loading Long side of the tray Shallow rooms where the lift approaches from the aisle

Cantilever Open front, no front posts Fast lift access, high-volume rooms

Sizing racks for a walk-in cooler

Each rack needs about 31" x 85" of floor space plus an aisle wide enough to turn a lift square to it. In a 10x10 walk-in, three 4-tier racks store 12 bodies. A 10x16 holds more racks plus staging room, and larger rooms scale from there. Ceiling height limits the tier count: a 5-tier rack is about 94" tall. For a low ceiling, use a low-profile 5-tier rack with a 12" first tier.

  • Count the bodies you need to store at peak
  • Divide by tiers per rack to get the rack count
  • Add 31" x 85" per rack plus a lift aisle
  • Check ceiling height against rack height
  • Buy one tray or board per tier
  • Confirm your lift reaches the top tier

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a body tray and a storage board?

A stainless body tray is rigid enough to carry a body between a rack, lift and table. An HDPE storage board is a barrier on the rack rollers and is not meant for lifting or transfer.

How many bodies fit in a 10x10 walk-in?

Three 4-tier racks fit in a 10x10, which stores 12 bodies.

What tray width do I need?

23" suits most cases, 27" suits larger decedents and 30" is for bariatric cases. All TITAN trays are 78" long.

Do racks fit inside an upright cooler?

Upright cabinets ship with their own tray system. Freestanding racks are for walk-in coolers.

Is financing available?

Financing is available through Shop Pay, including 0% offers with approved credit.
