Mercedes-Benz Metris Mortuary Conversion & Deck Fitment

The Mercedes-Benz Metris is one of the most popular first call and removal vehicles — compact enough for city work, big enough to be useful. The challenge has always been capacity. The AME-DD-EX2 solves it: the only double-deck mortuary transport system engineered specifically for a mid-size van.

Why the Metris needed its own system

Full-size double-deck systems don't fit a mid-size van's interior. The DD-EX2 is purpose-built for the Metris SWB (126" wheelbase) and LWB (135" wheelbase), delivering full-size double-deck performance in a compact package.

Capacity

One operator can transport four cots, three cremation containers, or two air trays per run — doubling the Metris's effective capacity.

Fitment by model

Model Wheelbase Length Product code
Metris SWB Cargo Van 126 in. 91.25 in. AME-DD-EX2-7223B003
Metris LWB Cargo Van 135 in. 99.25 in. AME-DD-EX2-7223B001

Key features

  • Powered upper deck, 600 lb. capacity.
  • Bier pin plates, cot cups, and glide strips on both decks.
  • High-impact fold-down bumper ramp.
  • Bolted-down install — bulkhead required.

Running a smaller vehicle or lower volume? Compare the single-deck AME-SS150, which also fits the Metris.

Frequently asked questions

Does the DD-EX2 fit both Metris wheelbases?

Yes — there are dedicated configurations for the SWB (126") and LWB (135") Metris cargo vans.

Will it fit a Metris with rear A/C?

Rear A/C units and dual rear-wheel packages can restrict installation. Confirm your vehicle's configuration before ordering.
