Sumner County EMS Morgue Racks, Gallatin, TN

Sumner County EMS in Gallatin, TN bought five AME 3-tier side-loading mortuary racks and fifteen 23" stainless body trays for its county morgue: 15 positions.

Sumner County EMS Morgue Racks, Gallatin, TN | American Mortuary Coolers

Sumner County EMS runs more than ambulances. Its Emergency Services Building at 255 Airport Road in Gallatin, Tennessee houses the county morgue, and the agency's own field guidelines direct crews to take unnatural-death cases to the "Sumner County EMS morgue," per the SCEMS operational guidelines. In September 2026 Sumner County EMS ordered five AME 3-tier side-loading mortuary roller racks and fifteen 23" 18-gauge stainless steel body trays from American Mortuary Coolers, giving the morgue fifteen storage positions.

Agency Sumner County Emergency Medical Services, 255 Airport Road, Gallatin, TN 37066, per Sumner County EMS
Role County EMS agency operating the Sumner County EMS morgue
Ordered from AMC September 18, 2026, tax-exempt county purchase, picked up at AMC in Tennessee
Equipment Five AME 2000-03TSL 3-tier side-loading roller racks; fifteen 23" 18-gauge stainless steel body trays
Capacity 15 tray positions (5 racks x 3 tiers)

Why an EMS agency buys morgue racks

In many Tennessee counties the EMS service, not a hospital, is where a decedent waits for the medical examiner. Sumner County's guidelines tell crews not to transport a body to Nashville until the District Attorney or county authorizes it, so the county needs secure, organized storage close to the scene. Racks turn an open cooler floor into stacked, numbered positions, and stainless trays let staff move each decedent without handling the body.

What Sumner County EMS bought

Five 3-tier side-loading mortuary roller racks

AME 2000-03TSL 3-tier side-loading mortuary roller rack

The AME 2000-03TSL is a welded, powder-coated steel rack with three tiers of 1.9" roller bars, so a tray slides on and off with little effort. Footprint 31" x 85", first tier 21" off the floor, 16.25" of vertical space between tiers, on locking casters. From $1,286.01 per rack. For four-high storage, compare the 4-tier side-loading rack.

Fifteen 23" 18-gauge stainless steel body trays

One tray for every position. The current model is the TITAN 23" stainless steel body tray, 18 gauge.

Loading the racks

With a 21" first tier, the racks pair with a hydraulic manual scissor lift (20.5" lowest deck) or a powered HD 1000 MAX lift. Planning a larger county surge? See county medical examiner surge equipment, the Cook County surge rack systems case study and Tennessee mortuary equipment.

Medical-grade body storage, small to large

American Mortuary Coolers builds USA-made body refrigeration for every size of facility, from a critical access hospital to a state medical examiner. Choose by decedent count, then by loading method.

Capacity Best fit Equipment
1 to 4 bodies Critical access and rural hospitals, small funeral homes Upright mortuary coolers, 2, 3 and 4 body coolers, bariatric coolers
2 to 6 bodies, no lift Hospitals that load straight from a cot Roll-in mortuary coolers, 6-body coolers
6 to 12 bodies Regional hospitals, county morgues, EMS-run morgues Small walk-ins under 120 sq ft: 8x10, 8x12, 10x10; 12-body coolers
12 to 40+ bodies Medical examiners, health systems, coroners Medium walk-ins, large walk-ins, multi-bay vault morgue coolers
Surge Mass fatality and pandemic planning Mass casualty and DMORT coolers, portable coolers

Pair every cooler with the right racks and body trays and a lift that reaches every tier: see mortuary and crematory lifts. Hospital buyers can start at hospital and health system morgue equipment; counties at county coroner equipment and body storage.

Compare cold storage around the space and loading plan

Start with the equipment you need to move into storage, the usable room dimensions and the available access route. An upright refrigerator, a roll-in cooler and a walk-in system are different configurations; compare their actual listings before choosing.

  • Capacity and access: confirm the listed storage arrangement and loading direction.
  • Fit: compare exterior and usable dimensions, door clearance and the delivery route.
  • Configuration: identify refrigeration, floor, rack and tray selections separately.
  • Project scope: confirm utilities, delivery requirements and the applicable written warranty.

Plan a phased mortuary-cooler replacement

Start with an inventory of the equipment in service, its dimensions and the workflow that must stay available during replacement. Identify the units needed first, the interfaces that must remain compatible and the later phases you want to budget. Separate a planning quantity from an approved purchase.

  • For each phase, identify the model or specification, quantity, delivery location and intended purchasing period.
  • Record dependencies such as door clearances, loading direction, transfer height, tray size, floor conditions and utilities where relevant.
  • Request separate line items for equipment and selected accessories so the order can be reviewed by location and fiscal period.
  • Review quote validity, current availability and delivery requirements before approving each phase; a planning quote is not a promise of a fixed future price.

Request a phased equipment or multi-location quote with the first purchase and later requirements clearly identified. Use the same approach for an independent facility, a public department or a corporate equipment-replacement program.

For several products or locations, request an itemized Upright Mortuary Coolers quote with selected models, quantities and delivery ZIP codes. Use general customer support for selection questions, and review the written warranty terms before ordering.

Plan year-end equipment purchases around the actual equipment and timing

Review current catalog prices, choose the required configuration and separate the first purchase from later replacement phases. Build an itemized priced quote, or request a formal equipment quote with quantities, locations and your purchasing period. Request written price validity rather than assuming an unannounced future price increase or an additional sale discount.

Can Section 179 affect an equipment purchase?

For tax years beginning in 2026, IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32 sets a maximum Section 179 expense deduction of $2,560,000, reduced when qualifying property placed in service exceeds $4,090,000. These are statutory limits, not a promise that this purchase or every buyer qualifies.

The IRS explains that property is generally placed in service when ready and available for its specific use. Eligibility, business use, taxable income and other requirements matter; ordering, financing or paying before year-end does not by itself establish a deduction. Confirm treatment and timing with your tax professional before relying on a tax benefit.

Use our 2026 Section 179 planning guide and illustrative calculator alongside the selected model's requirements. Confirm freight, installation responsibilities and availability separately; a year-end planning request is not a delivery guarantee.
