Why funeral homes use plastic thumb loop gowns
Polyethylene film that sheds fluid
Blood, cavity fluid and arterial solution bead off LDPE film instead of soaking in, so the gown stays a barrier from the first incision to cleanup. It's light, cheap enough to throw away after every case, and it doesn't lint.
A thin plastic thumb loop, not a knit cuff
Each sleeve ends in a plain plastic cuff with a thin polyethylene loop sealed to it. Hook your thumb through, pull the glove over the cuff, and the sleeve can't creep up your forearm when you reach across the table. There's no knit band to wick fluid toward the wrist. Compare thumb-loop, knit and open cuffs.
On and off in seconds
The gown slips over the head and ties at the back with long ties, so staff can gown up between calls without help and peel it off with their gloves at the end. See how to put on and remove a thumb-loop gown.
Built for the prep room and every first call
Wear the gown over scrubs for embalming and preparation, dressing and casketing, first-call removals, identification viewings, crematory intake, hospital morgues, medical examiner and coroner work, autopsy assist, pathology labs, mortuary science programs and veterinary clinics. For heavy-fluid, chemical or infectious-disease work, step up to a fluid-resistant coverall or a DuPont Tychem suit. Our gown level guide for funeral homes explains when to step up.

Blue or pink embalming gowns
Blue is the familiar prep-room color. Pink is the same gown at the same price, so you can color-code without changing protection: staff in blue, families or trainees in pink, or one color per location. Shop pink isolation gowns or see the pink isolation gown page. Read about blue embalming gowns with thumb loops and pink gowns for color-coding PPE.
Branded AME case of 100
Every case is printed in navy with the AME mark, SKU, color and count, so restocking the gowning station is a glance, not a guess. Planning how many to keep? Use our gown planning guide.

Frequently asked questions
What are embalming gowns?
Embalming gowns are disposable gowns worn over scrubs in the prep room to keep blood and fluids off the embalmer. Ours are polyethylene thumb-loop isolation gowns, sold 100 per case.
What is a thumb-loop isolation gown?
It is a gown with a small loop at the end of each sleeve that goes over your thumb. The loop holds the sleeve in place under your glove, so your wrist stays covered while you reach.
What are the gowns made of?
Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film. Liquid beads off the surface instead of soaking in, which is why plastic gowns are the standard throwaway gown in many prep rooms.
Do the gowns have knit cuffs?
No. The sleeve ends in a plain plastic cuff with a thin polyethylene thumb loop. There is no knit band to wick fluid toward your wrist.
Is the back open or closed?
It slips over the head and has an open back held by long ties, so it goes on and comes off in seconds.
What is the minimum order?
One case of 100 gowns. Order in 100-gown steps up to 1,000 per line, or request a quote for more.
Do you sell pink isolation gowns?
Yes. Pink is the same polyethylene thumb-loop gown as blue, at the same price, 100 per case.
What size are they?
One universal size, about 46 inches long, that fits most adults.
Can I mix blue and pink?
Each case holds one color, and each color has its own product page. Add a case of blue and a case of pink to the same cart to get both.
How is shipping charged?
At a flat rate for each case of 100, calculated at checkout.
Do you accept purchase orders?
Yes. Funeral homes, hospitals, agencies and schools can order by purchase order through the RFQ center.
