Which body bag do you need?
Going to cremation?
Pick a chlorine-free bag: the adult chlorine-free bag, the XL 8-handle chlorine-free bag, the leak-proof diamond oversize XL, or the made in the USA perimeter zipper bag. PVC vinyl releases chlorine compounds when burned.
Bariatric or oversize decedent?
The 2XL disaster bag is 54 × 108 inches in 18 mil PVC with eight handles. For cremation cases use the 48 × 98-inch XL chlorine-free or diamond bag.
Difficult scene, fluids or decomposition?
Choose heavy-duty 18 mil supported PVC with heat-sealed seams: the 2XL disaster bag for adults and the child disaster bag for children.
Water recovery?
Use the orange mesh water recovery bag, which drains during lift-out and has ten sewn handles rated 200 lb per pair.
High-volume hospital or surge stock?
The economy white vinyl bag is leak proof and packed 25 per case at one flat price per bag.

Materials, thickness and construction
Supported PVC vinyl (18 mil). A woven scrim inside heavy vinyl gives the best puncture and tear resistance. Seams are heat sealed, so the bag is leak proof. Use it for disaster, trauma and decomposition cases. It is not chlorine-free.
Chlorine-free polyethylene (10–12 mil). Scrim- or string-supported poly with no PVC, so it can be cremated. The diamond version adds a laminated string grid and heat-sealed seams for a leak-proof cremation-safe bag.
Nylon mesh (20 mil). Drains water during recovery. It is not a containment bag; transfer to a sealed pouch for transport when needed.
Economy PVC (6 mil). Light, leak proof and inexpensive for high-volume stock that stays on a cot or tray.
Zippers. Curved envelope (U) zippers open the whole top panel for identification. Perimeter zippers let the top fold back completely. Straight zippers are the simplest and lowest cost. Compare zipper types.
Handles. Riveted or sewn handles are rated per opposing pair (150 lb on most models, 200 lb on the water recovery bag). Lift pairs together with the bag level, and use a cot or lift for heavy decedents. Read about handle ratings.

Body bag questions
What body bag sizes do you carry?
Child (36 × 60 in.), adult (36 × 90 to 38 × 94 in.), oversize XL (48 × 98 in.) and 2XL bariatric (54 × 108 in.).
What is the difference between a body bag and a disaster pouch?
A disaster pouch is a heavy-duty body bag, usually 18 mil or thicker supported PVC with heat-sealed seams and riveted handles, built for mass-fatality and rough-scene use. Standard body bags are lighter and are used on a cot or tray.
Which body bags are safe for cremation?
Chlorine-free polyethylene bags. In this line that is the adult chlorine-free bag, the XL 8-handle chlorine-free bag, the diamond oversize XL and the perimeter zipper bag.
What does mil mean on a body bag?
A mil is one thousandth of an inch. A 6 mil bag is an economy pouch, 10 to 12 mil is medium duty, and 18 to 20 mil is heavy duty. Thickness alone is not a lifting rating; check the handle rating.
How are body bags sold?
In full cases. Most models ship 5 bags per case with lower per-bag prices at larger quantities. The economy vinyl and perimeter zipper bags ship 25 per case at one flat price per bag.
How is shipping charged?
Shipping is a flat rate per case, calculated at checkout.
Do the bags include toe tags?
Most models include three toe tags, and many include an adhesive biohazard pouch for paperwork. See each product’s specification table.
