Refusing Delivery Does Not Cancel Your Order

Freight-class mortuary equipment cannot be turned around at no cost once it is tendered to the carrier. Refusing a delivery does not void the sale, reverse the charge, or release you from this policy. A refused shipment is treated as a Discretionary Return under our Terms of Purchase.

A Refused or Undeliverable Shipment Automatically Incurs:

  • A restocking fee of 25% of the purchase price;
  • ALL original outbound freight, crating, handling, and liftgate/accessorial fees — including any freight cost absorbed by AMC on "free shipping" orders (actual outbound freight is deducted from any refund);
  • ALL return freight, crating, insurance, and handling back to our facility;
  • Any storage, demurrage, or redelivery charges assessed by the carrier while the unit is in transit or held.

Any refund equals purchase price minus the above, issued within 30 days of the returned unit being received and inspected.

What Counts as a Refusal

  1. Declining or turning away the shipment at the dock or curb.
  2. Being unreachable or unavailable for a scheduled freight delivery or liftgate appointment.
  3. Providing an incorrect, inaccessible, or unattended delivery address.
  4. Failing to accept delivery within the carrier's hold window, resulting in return-to-sender.

Before You Refuse — Do This Instead

If something looks wrong at delivery, do not refuse the shipment. Accept it, note the damage on the Bill of Lading, photograph it, and call us within your inspection window at 1-888-792-9315. Noting damage on the BOL protects your claim; refusing the shipment forfeits it and triggers the fees above.

Protective Shipping Film on Cooler Panels — Customer Responsibility

All walk-in cooler panels and metal skins ship with a protective barrier film applied to finished surfaces during manufacturing. Removal of this film is the customer's responsibility and must be completed promptly after delivery. Prolonged exposure to sunlight or heat can allow the film adhesive to bond permanently to the panel surface, causing staining or damage. Film adhesion damage is not covered under warranty and is not eligible for return or exchange — it is not a freight or shipping claim.

Panel material — Class 1 polyurethane foam

Walk-in cooler panels and upright cooler cabinet skins are constructed of Class 1 polyurethane foam insulation, injected under pressure into formed molds during manufacturing. Residual foam flash, minor surface variation, or trace foam residue on panel edges and surfaces is a normal characteristic of this manufacturing process — not a defect. Foam residue does not merit discounting, return, refund, or credit of any kind.

Inspect before you sign — 30-minute inspection window

You have up to 30 minutes from carrier arrival to thoroughly inspect every panel, crate, unit, and box before signing any delivery receipt or Bill of Lading. Check all surfaces, edges, corners, and refrigeration components while the driver is present. This is your only opportunity to document concerns with the carrier present. Acceptance at delivery is the single most critical step in the delivery process.

By signing the delivery receipt or Bill of Lading — or by accepting delivery in any form — you: (1) accept the shipment in the condition noted on the signed paperwork; (2) release the carrier and American Mortuary Coolers from all liability for any condition, damage, or deficiency that could have been identified during your inspection window; and (3) enter into a binding agreement that goods were received as stated on the signed documentation. Your signature on any shipping paperwork constitutes acceptance of these terms. There are no exceptions once paperwork is signed.
