304 Stainless Steel Care & Maintenance

Cleaning, disinfection, rust prevention, formaldehyde exposure. Content current as of May 1, 2026.

All USPE equipment is 304 stainless steel, chosen for its corrosion resistance to formaldehyde, formalin, and standard disinfectants. Proper care extends its life to 20+ years.

Daily Cleaning

Mild soap and water: Safe, effective, standard. Use soft cloth or sponge. Isopropanol 70%: Disinfects; leaves residue — wipe dry. Non-abrasive sponges: Use soft, never steel wool.

NEVER Use

Chlorine-based cleaners (bleach): Corrodes 304 stainless; causes pitting and rust. Hydrochloric acid: Attacks stainless. Steel wool or wire brushes: Leave steel particles that cause rust. Acetone or harsh solvents: Can damage finishes.

Rust Removal

If rust spots appear (usually from iron particles, not the steel itself), use a stainless steel cleaner or a paste of cream of tartar and lemon juice. Rub gently and rinse thoroughly.

Preventive Maintenance

Dry tables thoroughly after cleaning. Do not leave wet overnight. Inspect quarterly for stains or discoloration. Keep formaldehyde containers sealed and spill-free.
