Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Mortuary Deck Systems

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the workhorse of full-size removal fleets — long wheelbase, high roof, and the interior volume to run a true double-deck system. Both the 4-casket AME-DD4000 and the mixed-load AME-DD2000-XLC are engineered to fit it.

Which Sprinter deck system?

System Best for Capacity
AME-DD4000 Casket transport 4 caskets (2 per deck)
AME-DD2000-XLC Mixed first call & cremation 4 cots / 4 cremation / 2 air trays / 2 caskets

Sprinter fitment

The DD4000 fits the Sprinter 2500 and 3500 cargo vans, standard or high roof, 144" or 170" wheelbase, 2001–present (product code AME-DD4000-7225D000). The DD2000-XLC fits Sprinter 2500/3500 and EXT models. Both require a minimum 140" wheelbase, a bulkhead, and bolted-down installation.

Why the Sprinter is ideal

  • High roof gives upper-deck clearance for caskets and cremation containers.
  • Long wheelbase supports full lower- and upper-deck load lengths.
  • Widely serviced platform for installation and maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Sprinter need a high roof?

A high roof maximizes upper-deck clearance, especially for caskets. Standard roof configurations are supported on the DD4000 — confirm clearance for your load types.

Can one Sprinter do both casket and first call work?

The DD2000-XLC is the more versatile choice, handling cots, cremation containers, air trays, and caskets in one system.
